DES KENNEDY is currently Associate Director on Once (West End, Irish and South Korean productions). From 2010-2012 he was Associate Director at Out of Joint. He trained with Rough Magic Theatre Company (SEEDS programme) and the National Theatre Studio.
Directing credits include: Teenage Kicks, a punk musical (Millennium Forum, Derry City of Culture); How the World Began (Out of Joint); White Star of the North (Lyric, Belfast); God’s Country (Belfast Festival at Queen’s); Between Life and Nowhere (3LD, New York); The Prophet of Monto (Flea Theater, New York); Johnny Meister + the Stitch (Mead Theatre, Washington, DC); The Great Ramshackle Heart (Public Theater, New York); The Last Days of Judas Iscariot (Brian Friel Theatre); Dying City (Project Arts Centre, Dublin); Woman and Scarecrow (Flashpoint, Washington, DC); Salaam Mr Bush! (rehearsed reading, Royal Court); The Laramie Project (NSDF), for which he won the Bush Theatre Directing Award, and Scenes From the Big Picture (Callan Theatre, Washington, DC) which was named one of the Best 10 Productions of the Last Decade by the Washington Post.
